parade of life

Paula Jardine

The video "Paula Jardine: Public Dreamer", (on my 'about' page), was created at the 2005 intensive, Documenting Engagement. I am very grateful to jil, p. weaving, the fine people at cinematheque, and the canada council, for the experience. Here is a link to the whole collection of videos created.

"Live In Public: The Art of Engagement" a national symposium held in Vancouver in October of 2008. As a member of the organizing committee, I felt strongly that as community engaged artists we needed to be more assertive in defining ourselves (rather than having our art defined by funding agencies).

A publication, "Access all Areas : conversations on engaged arts" resulted from the conference. Here is a link to the essay I wrote: "Celebrating Spirit: the role of celebration arts"

"Landscape, Memory and Metaphor"
An article in Sitelines (page 8), a publication of the BC Society of Landscape Architects. This issue includes a profile of my mentor, Alan Duncan, and my inspiring friends and colleagues, Sharon Kallis and Carmen Rosen.

"Art-Craft Practice Exemplars: Making Space for Art, Healing, and Community"
An article by York University professor of Health and Society, Megan Davies, in the academic journal, BC Studies.

Here is a link to an archival movie "Ah! The Hopeful Pageantry of Bread and Puppet". We can see in this video how Peter Schumann and Bread and Puppet have influenced so many artists.
